There's blood on the handkerchief And narco freeze no relief Those drunken drivers The only survivors Will likely just swerve on their way We've been down here before And know I'm not keeping score But there are the signs The ugly designs Of the gluttons who only want more And you were talking in your sleep Telling me somewhere, somehow, some place must be at peace You told me not to hurt myself Digging up these kinds of hell Then you rolled over and you sighed You're so cute I almost died There's blood on the exit door And blood on the conference room floor We've seen the signs The vicious designs Of the monsters who only want more And you were talking in your sleep Telling me somewhere, somehow, some place must be at peace You told me not to hurt myself Digging up these kinds of hell Then you rolled over and you sighed You're so cute I almost died And you were talking in your sleep Telling me somewhere, somehow, some place must be at peace You told me not to hurt myself Digging up these kinds of hell Then you rolled over and you sighed You're so cute I almost died

Choir boys in their space-proof packaging Gonna reach, gonna reach for stars All the way up there and back again Gonna reach, gonna reach for stars Up ahead the sky is blackening Gonna reach, gonna reach for stars Look around you can see it happening Gonna reach, gonna reach for stars Cos heaven is there beneath our feet Heaven, is right within our reach Don't blow it Don't throw it away Don't blow it Don't throw it away Up ahead the sky is blackening Gonna reach, gonna reach for stars All the way up there and back again Gonna reach, gonna reach for stars Salesmen checking out at the motor inn Gonna reach, gonna reach for stars And the meek will inherit everything Gonna reach, gonna reach for stars Cos heaven is there beneath our feet Heaven, is right within our reach Don't blow it Don't throw it away Don't blow it Don't throw it away Don't blow it Don't throw it away Don't blow it Don't throw it away

Local Boyz 02:40
Fourteen year old local boys Laying fires assumed of course If only we could find our voice Before it slips away Do you like that? Do you like that Winding you up and leaving you flat Do you like that? Forty year old local men Deep in drinkers' denizen Picking over seasons when The title slipped away The night they lost the day Do you like that? Do you like that Winding you up and leaving you flat Do you like that? Do you like that Do you like that Do you like that Do you like that

Sheila 03:30
Shelia the room is spinning round The stereo is sick but that's the way it's meant to sound There's nothing that I'd rather do Than waste my time on you Waste everything for you Sheila Shelia the perfect flying things Creatures scales and wings And their souls and everything I give it all to you Anything for you A kingdom just for you Sheila And it's bound to make you hurt sometimes But oh the pain is so sublime Yeah it's bound to make you hurt sometimes Are you gonna walk my Are you gonna walk my way? Sheila there's no such thing as night It's just an absence of light It's just an absence of light There's nothing that I'd rather do than waste my time on you Waste everything for you Sheila And it's bound to make you hurt sometimes But oh the pain is so sublime Yeah it's bound to make you hurt sometimes Are you gonna walk my Are you gonna walk my way? Sheila Sheila Sheila Sheila

Oh Cheryl 02:35
Oh Cheryl won't you meet me by the window? I've got something I'd like to say to you Oh Cheryl won't you meet me by the window? I've got something I'd like to say to you You know it's only common sense We'd be saving half the rent You know that in a little while I'd be the one to make you smile Oh Cheryl won't you meet me by the window? I've got something I'd like to say to you Oh Cheryl meet me at the weeping willow Let me know just what you plan to do Forget about the birds and bees Think of the utilities Holding on to what we save Waiting for a sunny day You can have it your own way You can have it your own way yeah I'm still waiting I'm still waiting on you Oh Cheryl won't you meet me by the window? I've got something I'd like to say to you Oh Cheryl won't you meet me by the window? Let me know just what you plan to do

Can you feel it underneath your skin? We love you We love you Did you hear it going round? Can you hear it on the other side of town? Can you feel it sinking in? Can you feel it underneath your skin? Did you hear it call you back? Can you hear it on the other side of the track? We love you We love you We love you And we hope your gonna come home soon We love you We love you Can you hear it on the other side of the track? We love you We love you We love you And we hope your gonna come home soon We love you We love you We love you

You are not a scientist Nor a technician You are but the packaging For holy ambition You are not an alchemist Nor a magician You are but a voyager Light through a prism You Sweet sweet you Indestructible you Sweet you You Irrefutable you Intractable you Sweet you staying true Oh we're familiar with the trope by now Got us tethered to the past somehow When there's no place left like home You are not a tactician Nor are you a statistician You are but a beautician of the soul You You are not a tactician Irrefutable you Nor are you a statistician Indestructible you You You are not a tactician Oh look at you Nor are you a statistician Unbeatable you Sweet you staying true Sweet you staying true Oh we're familiar with the trope by now Got us tethered to the past somehow When there's no place left like home And finally we must retire Concede the field to those we admire While the horses froth and foam There's no place left I'd like to go Go! You can sweat it out But it leaks back in But it leaks back in

Gutter glitterati  Bursting at the seams Gutter glitterati In their tranquilliser jeans Got a data high rise  At the new-speak discotheque  Got a data high rise Singing Box the Jesuit  On fire Down to the wire They got goons for hire If you think it’s getting better Better get a fact checker Got a little Elvis Sitting on a shelf Pretty little Elvis He ain’t got nobody else Water cannon sitcom Makes you wanna be a star Water cannon sitcom Is the soul pneumonia On fire Down to the wire They got goons for hire If you think it’s getting better Better get a fact checker If you think you’re doing fine Well you’re swallowing a line Oh they know who you are  They know where you’ve been They know all your sins They know where you hide They know why you weep They know what you’ll say Before you can speak On fire Down to the wire They got goons for hire If you think it’s getting better Better get a fact checker If you think it’s getting better Better get a fact checker If you think you’re doing fine Well you’re swallowing a line Oh they know who you are They know who you are

So much has been stolen How can it be replaced? Cast aside and broken So little to be saved Try to suffocate those feelings But they’re rising anyway They grow wild They grow wild They grow wild Fierce and vengeful angels Beautiful to see Raining down their fire upon the gerontocracy Try burying those feelings But they’ll flourish anyway They grow wild They grow wild They grow wild They grow wild They grow wild They grow wild They grow wild They grow wild They grow wild

Those evil tunes That kept you in your room From midnight till noon Everyday And what do you get baby yet What do we get out of it What do we get baby yet What do you get? Those half baked plans Hatched by half baked men Will lead us down again Into the flames And what do you get baby yet What do we get out of it What do we get baby yet What do we get? If you can make it right you should The pasts not over understood Until we forget Until they forget Yeah baby yeah what do you get out of it What do we get baby yet What do we get?

about

Surrender to Robots is a solo album by the Insufferable Paul Scott (The Likes of You, Montana, John Kennedy’s 68 Comeback Special, The Bad Machines and on into the dim recesses of the Indie hive-mind’s faltering memory…)
The album was written, recorded performed and produced by the Insufferable Paul Scott, so really, there’s no one else to blame.
Song subjects include existential angst, co-habitation as a means of financial easement, optimism, missing people, mobile phone culture and how we’re all going to hell in a rather attractive if somewhat shoddily manufactured handbag.
